On May 16, 2009, over 15,000 women and men walked the moonlit streets of London in brightly decorated bras to help raise awareness and funds for vital breast cancer causes.

Now in its 12th year, the unique form of advocacy started with a power walk that set off from Hyde Park around midnight.  The walkers, who traditionally wear their bras on full display, had the choice of either a walking a half-marathon or a full marathon.

Walk the Walk is a grant-making charity that offers financial aid for breast cancer research and support. As well as the money raising, it also aims to promote fitness and healthier lifestyles.

World AIDS Orphans Day brings together mayors and elected officials, organizations, concerned individuals and the media to advocate for donor governments to dedicate 10% of all HIV and AIDS funding to support children affected by AIDS.

Hundreds supported the of launch of May 7 Coalition (www.7may.org) in Los Angeles by forming an aerial image entitled, “Circle Of Hope”, on Sunday, May 7, World AIDS Orphans Day. The event was part of a worldwide effort, initiated by FXB International, urging mayors and elected officials to sign a proclamation recognizing objectives set out in the 2001 United Nations Declaration of Commitments on HIV/AIDS, including increased funding for AIDS orphans and their communities. Elected representatives from 271 cities in 38 countries have signed the proclamation so far. Presently, the number of orphans is estimated to be 15 million, and is expected to rise to 100 million by 2010.
